An Amtrak train traveling from Los Angeles (California) to Chicago (Illinois) derailed Monday after colliding with a truck at a railroad crossing in Mendon, in rural Missouri, killing at least three people and leaving numerous wounded.There were 243 passengers aboard the train when the accident occurred around 12:43 p.m. Central Time.Several were injured, but it is unknown how many and their condition, Amtrak spokeswoman Kimberly Woods said.Among the dead is the person who was in the truck, authorities said, clarifying that the data they have so far is preliminary."It's a terrible situation, I can say that. Several cars derailed. We think there could be fatalities, but it's still too early.
