ADRIAN — The May 14 spring recycling collection at the Lenawee County Fair & Event Grounds was not well attended and collections for pesticide containers are coming soon.

"The spring collection was held on one of the first very hot spring days and turnout was very low. We only filled one trailer (almost 1,000 tires)," Lenawee County Solid Waste Coordinator Becky Borton said in an email.

She said people turned in about 408 pounds of solid foam products and a small amount of packing materials, batteries, and documents for shredding.

Collections for pesticide containers will be held June 24, July 8, July 29, Aug. 19 and Sept. 16 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Lenawee Farm Bureau at 4025 S. Adrian Highway.

Do not leave the jugs at the site other than during scheduled times. Call Keeley Pape with the Lenawee Conservation District at 517-902-8104 with questions or to plan other times for drop off of jugs.

Borton is also looking for volunteers who attend community events and would be interested in sharing recycling flyers. Those interested should call 517-264-4511,  ext. 1.
